It’s kind of astonishing how they have developed into the top parasite. It has evolved to know how to persuade the parental birds to feed it in a much faster frenzy than what they would naturally do with their own young. Examples include how the newborn chick knows instinctively that it must eliminate its competition (by either pushing the eggs or by pushing out the newly hatched chicks).
